Free Script Hosting For Your Licensed Script
Please use this page to host either your regular FLATTEXT script or your Zip Code Locator. You cannot host a FLATTEXT French Version or a MySQL script on this site. MySQL hosting will be available within the next few weeks.
You can host a licensed FLATTEXT script here for as long as you like. If your script is not licensed, we will be happy to host it for 30 days for free. After 30 days, all unlicensed scripts will be locked.
For security reasons, the hosting service and the script generator are located on completely different servers. In order to move your script from the generator into the hosting server, you need to provide the Script ID of the script that you want hosted.
To begin, fill out the forms below from top to bottom and follow the instructions that are presented. All of the utilities listed in the section below can be completed or redone at your convenience. Likewise, if you need to make changes to your script, you will need to edit it in the appropriate generator and rehost it. If you initially host an unlicensed script that you now want to license, you will need to edit it in the generator and unlock it on the Download Options page and THEN complete the forms below to re-host it.
START HERE:
UTILITIES TO REMOTELY MAINTAIN YOUR SCRIPT
Utility One (Link to Your Web Pages, required)
For your script to operate properly, you need to provide a link that will be used by your script to direct people back to your web page. This link will be used in the event that the user encounters an error, or anytime that the script needs to direct the user back to your site.
Utility Two (Link to Template File, required)
In order for your search results to be displayed on a page that matches the style of rest of your web site, you need to create a file named template.htm. This template file is a regular HTML page, except that it contains +++ where your search results are inserted. Once you create a template file and have named it template.htm, send it to your server and provide its full URL in the field below. The hosting service will "snag" this file, check it for security errors, and place it on our server for use by your script.
Generally, you need to make sure of the following:
- Name the template file template.htm
- Since the template file will be housed on our server, you must use FULL URL's for all images and links. Note: A FULL URL begins with http:// not www
- Avoid using Java, JavaScript, or server side includes
- Make absolutely sure that the URL you provide below is URL of your template file only and that it contains three plusses where you want your search results inserted, like +++. Be sure to preview your template file using your browser before attempting to upload it
Utility Three (Link to Your Data File) (optional, unless you have a non-addable script)
If you have an existing text delimited data file that you want to use with your hosted script, name this file datafile.txt and send it to your server in ASCII mode. The hosting service will "snag" this data file, check it for errors and security violations, and use it as the base data set for your script.
In order for this to work, you must have done all of the following:
- Named the data file datafile.txt and put it on the web in a place where it can be downloaded
- It must be a text file, with one record per line and the same field order and delimiter that were selected when you created your script
- You must have sent the file to your server in ASCII mode
- Your data file must be smaller than 1.5MB in size (files larger than that cannot be hosted using this hosting service)
Attempting to use this form to upload anything other than a text delimited file will set off alarms and cause problems, so please point your browser to your data file before attempting to upload it to make sure that you are pointing to the correct file!
Utility Four (Download/Backup Your Data File, optional, as needed)
It is your responsibility to make regular backups of your data file. Your data file is not stored in a publicly accessible directory on our server. This utility copies your data file from the non-public directory to a public and readable directory so you can download it. Since the file you download isn't the one that your database is actually linked to, you need to process a new download utility request each time you want to download it.
