Frequently Asked Questions About Free Script Hosting

Main Page

Can I host non FLATTEXT scripts on your server?
No. For security reasons, this is not permitted.
How do I invoke the script?
The script is an exact duplicate of the file you created on the regular FLATTEXT server at http://flattext.com or the Zip Code Locator Server at http://zipcodelocators.com. When you complete the first step, all of the snippets that correspond to your particular script will be made available to you. You must place these snippets in HTML files and put them on your server. If you need to access this file again, simply reacquire the script and complete the other configuration steps.
How do I make changes to a script once it is on your server?
You can make changes by editing your script as usual at the FLATTEXT Script Generator or the Zip Code Locator Generator and then reacquiring your script from there as though you were starting from scratch. You do not have access to the hosting server outside the administration pages, so you don't have as much control over script performance as you might like.
How do I update my data file?
That depends on how you need to update it. If you need to add records to your existing data file, you will want to export your database and add records to it, then reacquire your data file through the administration page. Anytime you reacquire your data file, it overwrites the file that is already on my server. Of course, if your database supports add and edit features, then you can update your database in that manner.
Can I change the template file or the forwarding URL of my database?
Yes, you can do that by completing only that step on the administration page.
